Asia is home to so many exciting culinary adventures for the PiA community. Join Eat Drink Draw, a duo composed of Hannah Bae (PiA Korea ’07) and her husband, Adam Oelsner, as they talk through their process of how they’ve turned their passion for global foods into food writing and illustration work. This will be a low-pressure, interactive workshop on how to track down answers to the questions we have about the foods that intrigue us, whether it be through visual art, creating writing, cooking or any other means.

We’d like to encourage (but will not require) participants to think about which medium they’d like to explore when it comes to food, whether it be drawing, writing, planning, etc. You will receive a prompt from Hannah and Adam, but you should feel free to bring your own ideas as well. Suggestions would include some historic research, an image inspiration, or a food-related topic you want to explore more. We hope this will serve writers, visual artists and other creatives, using food as inspiration.

Participants can choose to have a pencil/pen and paper, an iPad or any other sketching surface/device handy. However, folks can also just come and enjoy listening to the workshop!

Please register to attend! This is a free event, open to all alumni, family, and friends in our community. Registration closes at 5 PM ET on Wednesday, June 9.

Meet Eat Drink Draw: Hannah Bae is a writer who has a passion for Korean food and writing about the Korean American experience. Adam Oelsner is also a writer with back-of-house restaurant experience. We’re married, we both write, and we both draw. We love learning about food and feeding friends.
