PiA is partnering with Burmese chef Irene Khin Wong to host a virtual Southeast Asian cooking class and night of celebration!

Chef Irene Khin Wong is the director of Saffron 59 in New York City. On this celebratory night, Irene will share about her own personal career and journey from her childhood in Myanmar where she was raised by her grandmother from Guangdong province (China), to her travels across Asia, while teaching participants how to cook Burmese si-byan (fish curry), Thai massaman vegetable curry, and Lao red rice pilaf. After preparing the dishes, everyone will sit down to enjoy a hot, home-cooked meal together. While we are sharing our meal, Irene will teach us about different types of rice in Southeast Asia.

Please register to attend! This is a free event, open to all alumni, family, and friends in our community. If you register to join, you will receive a list of ingredients for each recipe that you will need to acquire and prep (ex: dicing tomatoes) if you choose to cook alongside Irene during the event. Of course, you are also welcome to simply watch and learn! Registration closes at 5 PM ET on Tuesday, May 18.
