Join us for a picnic among Cherry Blossoms (hopefully, weather permitting) and tour of "Art Across Cultures" at the newly renovated Freer | Sackler Museum!

Tour: Art Across Cultures. The creation of art is a universal human endeavor, but what connects artwork across cultures and what sets them apart? Investigate artworks from across Asia, exploring commonalities and differences in cultures, aesthetics, and ideas. Discover outstanding works of art from throughout Asia in an hour-long, docent-led tour through the Freer and Sackler. Explore art from varied time periods, countries, and cultures.

Pre-Tour Picnic. Bring your own picnic. (The Freer│Sackler does not offer eating facilities.) 

 

Time and Meeting Location:

1:00PM - 2:00PM: Bring-your-own picnic, weather-permitting. Meet at the benches and tables area adjacent to the Haupt Gardens (http://www.gardens.si.edu/our-gardens/haupt-garden.htmland Freer Museum.

2:15PM - 3:15PM: Docent-led, private group tour. Meet on the Mall side of the Freer Gallery (Jefferson Drive) at the Visitor Information Desk a few minutes before our scheduled tour time (2:15PM).

 

Transportation:

  • Metro: Closest metro stop is the Smithsonian Station - National Mall (orange, silver, and blue lines).
  • Parking: Metered parking along Independence Avenue.

 

RSVP: To ensure we stay within the allowed number of participants (museum allows 60 people), please let us know if you are coming and how many guests you'll be bringing.

  • For your safety, all visitors will have their bags checked. 
  • Photographs may be taken of the permanent collection but not of loan objects or exhibitions; please be aware of “no photography” signage in the galleries.
