Join us for a conversation with A.J. Koikoi (Japan ’16, Carriebright ’17), hosted by Kouta Ohyama (Summer of Service ’16, Laos ’19), to learn more about A.J.’s experience working, studying, and bridge-building in Japan. For the past three years, A.J.’s Carriebright project, "Danketsu", has been facilitating international cultural exchange by connecting student-athletes in Japan and the US. In addition, A.J. is wrapping up his master’s degree program in Peacebuilding at Hiroshima University. We hope you’ll dial in to hear more of A.J.’s story.
Please register to attend by Tuesday, April 27 in order to receive the Zoom link for the event. The event is free to attend.
Participant bios:
AJ Koikoi (speaker): A.J. has been based in Japan for five and a half years. He started as a PiA teaching Fellow at Notre Dame Seishin, then began “Danketsu” - a plus-sports development project with funding from the Carriebright Fellowship. A recent graduate from Hiroshima University, A.J. now works for the United Nations Institute of Training and Research in Hiroshima City.
Kouta Ohyama (host): After graduating college, Kouta started his Princeton in Asia fellowship with ChildFund Laos, an international developmental NGO in rural Laos. He continues to work remotely from Tokyo, supporting the operations of another organization in Laos. Outside of work, you will most likely find Kouta talking someone’s ear off about cooking, languages, or languages of cooking.
